Speak It

Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!! This is what the sovereign Lord says to these bones. I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life,” Ezekiel 37:4

If we are honest, we all have an area in our life that isn’t working and its been like that for years. The dry bones represent relationships, hopes, dreams, expectations, visions, plans that were once alive and have slowly shriveled up and died.

It’s interesting that no one ever talks about the valley or their dry bones. No one ever discusses their dry bones on social media, instead we show the parts of our lives that are alive and kicking and hide the dry bones. Some of us have been living with dry bones for years!!! They’ve become normal and a part of every day life. After a while you get used to them.

The power to change the situation is in our mouth!! We can speak LIFE to the areas of our lives that are dead. Our words are powerful. “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit,” Proverbs 18:21.

In Ezekiel 37, the Holy Spirit led Ezekiel to a valley that was full of bones that were described as “very dry,” which implies that they had been like that for a for a long time and it appeared that there was no hope that they would ever live again. He was asked if he thought the dry bones could live (Ezekiel 37:3). In the natural, this is a stupid question. I love his response!! He says: “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.” Then he is commanded to PROPHESY to the dry bones. “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life,” Ezekiel 37:4-5.

At this point, he had a choice to either be obedient and open his mouth and prophesy by faith despite the hopeless situation or be disobedient and ignore the instruction the Holy Spirit gave him. There is power in being obedient to the instructions from the Holy Spirit!!

As difficult as it was Ezekiel took a step of faith and prophesied as he was commanded and as he was prophesying, “there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone.” (Ezekiel 37:7).  He prophesied and spoke life to the dry bones and “they came to life and stood up on their feet – a vast army,” (Ezekiel 37:10). That’s a miracle!!!

We’ve been quite for too long and have grown accustomed to our dry bones. It’s time to prophesy and speak life to every dead situation in our lives!! Find specific scriptures in the Word of God that relate to your situation and speak it over your life. Say to them: “Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord,” (Ezekiel 37:5). Speaking the word of God will change your life!!

“…So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it,” Isiah 55:11

I’m sure Ezekiel felt stupid prophesying to dry bones and he probably resented having to do it. Who would want to talk to dry bones? He had the help of the Holy Spirit to lead and direction him in what to prophesy. The Holy Spirit will help us!!!

Prophesying is hard!! There are times when I don’t feel like prophesying because I’m distracted, busy or tired. I’m sure Ezekiel felt like a fool for speaking to the dry bones but when you have faith in God and your lead by the Holy Spirit you may appear to be foolish for a season.

I’ve been prophesy for several months that “something good is about to happen.” In the natural nothing good was happening but things are happening in the Spirit realm. This year, I have been surrounding by sickness, hospital visits to see my Dad, death and grieve but still prophesying that “something good is about to happen” by faith. I have been prophesying that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, breakthrough, open doors, favor, new things, and better days ahead.

I encourage you to prophesy over your present and future and decree and declare the word of God. As you speak the word of God it increases your faith. “So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the word of God,” Romans 10:17 (NIV)

It’s time to stop accepting and living with our dry bones. SPEAK the miracle that you want to see over you life and on the people around you by faith. You don’t need to wait for a Pastor to prophesy over your life you can open up your mouth and prophesy over your own life.

God will get the glory for bringing every dead/hopeless situation back to life. Despite what it looks like in the natural with God NOTHING is impossible!!!

God is faithful!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Outstanding article as always Miss Irish. It gets us to identify all areas in our life that are dry, dead and seemingly irredeemable in order to speak life over them using the power of the Holy Spirit. Be encouraged
