“I waited patiently for the Lord; And he inclined to me and heard my cry,” Psalm 40:1
Prayer is POWERFUL and it can change everything. As powerful as it is, sometimes it can be frustrating to keep asking and praying persistently especially when the years roll by and there are no visible changes.
It’s difficult when you pray for a need that you have aged 25 and then find yourself aged 32 and the prayer hasn’t been answered yet. It’s easy to become weary and want to give up and it can be difficult to find the words to pray. God already knew that this would happen and tells us: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up,” Galatians 6:9.
To be weary means to be tired and worn out in strength and energy. Sometimes I get tired of praying, tired of asking and waiting patiently. Perhaps I’m the only one!! There are times when I’m tempted to give up and run ahead of God to “make things happen” in my own strength (See the blog I should’ve Waited).
When I become tired of praying and waiting I take a minute to look back and remember where God has brought me from and I remember the prayers that God has answered in the past. I remember the miracles and the times God made a way out of no way and I’m reminded of God’s goodness and faithfulness. This is why it’s a good idea to write a journal that keeps track of your life and prayers that God has answered.
Where I’ve gone wrong is trying to pray and wait patiently on God in my own strength. It never works, eventually I get weary especially when praying for a long period of time. I don’t know about you but sometimes LIFE happens and I have little or no strength and I want to faint and give up. I NEED to depend on the Holy Spirit to help me pray and to put the words in my mouth because sometimes I don’t have the words to say.
We can never go wrong when we wait on God and when we trust, rely on and depend on God!! His timing is perfect. “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint,” Isaiah 40:31. God answers prayers!!!
My wait and your wait will never be in vain. I’m confident that God will do: “exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think……….,” Ephesians 3:20. After praying we should intentionally get ourselves ready and prepare our life for what we’ve prayed for BY FAITH. “Faith by itself, if it does not have works is dead,” James 2:17. FAITH is a fight!! We all have something that we are believing God for and the only way to receive it is by faith. It’s not a physical fight, it’s a spiritual fight. We fight on our knees in Prayer, we fight by confessing the promises of God, we fight through the sacrifice of Praise and Worship and we fight by simply REFUSING to give up on what we know ultimately only God can do (See the Blog Fighting the Good Fight).
My parents got married in 1977 and the doctors told them they couldn’t have children. They were devastated!! Despite the bad news they continued to pray. Year after year went by with no results. People who couldn’t mind their own business would ask them “when they were going to have children?” not knowing they were having difficulties. SIX YEARS of silent frustration, tears and disappointment went by and God came through and answered their desperate prayer. I was born in 1983 and my brother in 1984. They called me their “miracle baby.”
What your praying for may not be here yet but it’s coming!!!!! It could manifest quicker than you think, so get ready. God is working it out and things are happening in the spirit realm in response to your prayers so don’t give up and don’t stop praying!!
Pray throughout the day, give God thanks for where you are now and thank God in advance for what your praying for by faith!!! “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him,” Hebrews 11:6.
If you have become weary and tired, I encourage you to keep on asking, keep on praying, keep on believing, keep on speaking God’s word concerning your situation and prepare for what you are praying for intentionally.
Pray until something happens!!! Please know that God has not forgotten about you and knows when to give you exactly what you need. TRUST HIM!!!!
God is faithful!!!!
